12 days of drinking -Day 2

Camping Sangria

Serves 6

32 oz. red wine, like Merlot

8 oz. freshly squeezed grapefruit juice

1/4 cup sugar

Juice of one lime

1 cup chopped Strawberries

Combine the wine, grapefruit juice, sugar,

and lime juice in a large pitcher,  stir until the sugar dissolves.

Add ice and berries and enjoy!

*note the addition of the grapefruit means its ready to drink right away.

If you omit this step you will have to let the sangria sit for a few hours before enjoying.

**Recipe from: Camp Cocktails, Easy, Fun & Delicious Drinks For The Great Outdoors, by Emily Vikre

I really like this recipe in the winter even though its usually a summer drink because it calls for fresh grapefruit which is sweetest in the winter months.

The bright red colors look beautiful the time of year.

Perfect to make ahead for a party or just to sip on all weekend! Why not?

The berries aren’t as mushy this time of year and actually hold up better in the winter months as well. Cranberries could be a fun addition!

This would make the perfect hot tub sipper, present wrapper, shopping unwinder or Christmas brunch addition!
